But I have also found myself quite disappointed as many books are very heavy with little payoff. Don’t get me wrong, there have been some wonderful books. I also read The Guncle at just the right time-I haven’t loved a lot of books I’ve read this year. Just like I did with his previous novel, The Editor. It sounds so cliche but I truly laughed and got teary eyed at many parts of The Guncle. But seriously, there is just something about his writing-the way he crafts humor and heart all on the same page. ![]() That was an easy and quick review, right? Haha. So you should just go ahead and buy all his books now. Steven Rowley is one of my favorite authors! I just absolutely adore all his stories. ![]()

His whole career was basically writing, as he left home in 1905 and starting jotting things down even earlier. The book gained so much popularity because of the way it was written - not only the events in someone's life, but also the psychological aspects. Lytton Strachey was born on March 1, 1880, and Eminent Victorians was his most famous work. At the time, the three men were considered heroes, but the book controversially represented them as not as important as that. The idea of the book was that all of the 'characters' or people that the biographies were about, are drastically different, but their lives can be connected in unique ways. The biographies include those of Cardinal Manning, Florence Nightingale, Thomas Arnold, and General Gordon, and the reputations of all but Florence Nightingale declined from their former status. Published in 1918, Eminent Victoriansis a collection of four biographies of prominent heroes at the time of the author, Lytton Strachey. Widely reviled, the film did little to enhance either Roddenberry's earnings or his reputation. For Roddenberry, it was just one of many scripts he doctored - and one of many bridges he burned. ![]() So, Roddenberry ended up re-writing the entire thing, and the famously irascible Ellison never forgave him, becoming a "Trek" detractor from that day forward. The most notorious instance of this may have resulted in the best and most famous episode of the original "Trek": "The City on the Edge of Forever." Originally penned by sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison, the script was excellent - Ellison even won an award for it - but it would have been impossible to shoot on a television budget. Another part was that many of the "Trek" writers were published science fiction authors, and published science fiction authors don't always understand how to write for television. Part of the reason for this was his personal expertise in the universe he created, along with his obsession in maintaining control over that universe. Not only was he always around to keep track of the details of the "Trek" universe and make sure everything in the show felt consistent and realistic, he often re-wrote scripts entirely. ![]() ![]() ![]() Lucas later returned to the series to direct a prequel trilogy, consisting of Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005).
